Using Ggmap To Show The Black Spots In Nairobi And How To Curb Road Accidents
The purpose of this paper is to show the black spots using Nairobi county as an example. It discusses the risks and challenges faced under the transport sector and explores the policy options and strategies for enhancing the mobility and safety. Ggmap and ggplot2 which are packages available in the R software have been used to visualize the black spots and how road accidents can be curbed in these areas. Using this method, one can plot the basic geographic information of referenced data and proceed to plot black spots. The review focuses on the location of the places where most road accidents occur, reasons why these places are susceptible to road accidents, maps showing the black spots and how to reduce road accidents in the black spots. Results show that most accidents are due to failure by pedestrians to use footbridges and this shall be clearly seen from the maps and data collected.
