A Health Report On The Trends Of Communicable Diseases And Maternal Health: A Case Study Of Vihiga County
The study was carried to assess the trends that have been recorded for the year 2013-2017 for a number of diseases in the county of Vihiga. The objectives of the study were to check the effect of health financing, health workforce and health infrastructure on the different aspects of communicable diseases and maternal health in Vihiga County. The data was collected from the district health information system and focused on Vihiga County. The data was then analyzed using statistical methods and in this case R was used. From the data it was noted that the was a slight increase in maternal deaths, a drop in positive malaria cases and a decrease in the levels of TB. However the number of 4th antenatal clinics visits reduced. It was also recommended that Vihiga County could adopt some methods to improve their health sector and control some diseases. The government should improve the health facilities, procure drugs and equipment on time, train their health personnel frequently and look for partnerships with donor organizations and the national government.
