Application Of Functional Data Analysis In Breast Cancer Modeling
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women worldwide[1].
The objective of this article is to present the usefulness of functional data anal-
ysis(FDA) techniques in the investigation of breast cancer incidences rates over
time. It also highlights the usefulness of R- packages/ libraries in computing
various tasks or commands. In analyzing the data we collected (Breast cancer
incidences in males, females and both), we employed the method of simple lin-
ear regression to explain the relationship between the year and the number of
incidences of each of the groups; females, males and both. This method allows
for future forecasting of the incidence rates. We noticed that Breast cancer
incidence rates were more in females than in males in every age group and in
every single year. The article does not solve the problem of the causes of Breast
Cancer and the necessary remedies.
