Environmental Studies Project
The core objective of this project was to appreciate the usage and application of the R packages provided in solving real life problems under Environmental studies. R is statistical computing software which provides built in tools and functions for data analysis, prediction and interpretation. The packages of interest used in this case were rpart for classification, regression and survival trees, Cluster for finding groups in data, amap which provide tools for clustering and principal component analysis, Envistat for graphical and statistical analyses and R-capture for estimation of abundance and other demographic parameters using log linear models. For each package mentioned herein, different data sets obtained from R were used. The numerical and graphical outputs attached to this report were based on various analyses performed under each package to test and verify the suitability and efficiency of the functions provided by R to help in effectively solving statistical problems in real life situation. Appreciating the practical application of these r packages provides us with the confidence and precision with which we predict and forecast the social and economic growth patterns of the environmental factors.
