Analysis Of Prevalent Diseases And Maternal Health Care Based On Data From The District Health Information Systems
Introduced in Kenya in 2010, the District Health Information System (DHIS) is a tool for health-related projects providing essential data used in managing outbreaks, assessment of overall health situations, strategy and policy-making in the country. However, this system isn’t stable enough due to technological challenges in third world countries like Kenya, missing data which lead to inconsistency and consequently gaps in information. In this work, our lecturer Dr.Kamanu provided an extract of Kirinyaga County from the DHIS system. We seek to evaluate and visualize the trends in rampant diseases in our county, investigate the possible causes and recommend on appropriate mitigation strategies and also give credit to the improvements in the health sector. We have utilized R-programming language to test various hypotheses and visualize the data for easy comprehension.
