The purpose of this project was to explain the role of web analytics in addressing how political factors of a country affect the central bank rates of that particular country. To illustrate this we collected data trends from the R package gtrendsr and ggplot which showed the goggle search trends of the term “Kenya elections” within the Kenyan region. We then compared this data with the central bank of Kenya interest rates collected from the central bank of Kenya (CBK) website in order to see how one affects the other. The graphical presentations in this article will help illustrate further how political factors have affected the central bank rates in Kenya over the years.
