Analysis Of The Spread Of Hiv And Aids In Kenya Based On The Data From National Aids Control Council (Nacc) For The Period 2013, 2015 And 2017.
The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that infects cells of the immune system destroying or impairing their functions (WHO, 2017).As a result, since the discovery of the infection in the early 1980s, various global measures have been put in place to reduce new HIV infections and ensure that everyone living with HIV has access to HIV treatment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the spread of HIV/AIDS in Kenya. The study was focused on the eight regions of Kenya formerly known as the Provinces. Methods applied during the analysis are simple linear regression to explain the relationship between the number of people living with HIV/AIDS and the number of HIV related deaths. We also used line graphs and bar graphs to graphically display the statistics. Data used in the analysis was obtained from the NACC for the period 2013, 2015 and 2017.This paper looks into prevalence of HIV/AIDS nationally, the number of HIV related deaths and the number of new HIV infections during the mentioned period. Furthermore, analysis is done per region to enable the government budget properly for each region in fighting this epidemic. Finally a conclusion is drawn and recommendations are given based on the findings and the conclusion.
